About the Pinecones

The first of these ceramic pinecones was created in 2018. The artist enters a trance-like state where she dissolves the barrier between her skin and the material, intentionally forgetting any separation. Every impression of her finger prints in the clay creates a petal imbued with a gesture of love and generosity. Every petal is then connected with the utmost care and masterful technique to create each unique, one-of-a-kind piece.

About the Artist

Jacqueline Saepoff is a Chicago based Contemporary Artist. She is currently an MFA Ceramics candidate at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and her work has been featured in several galleries across the country. Jacqueline experiences the living water in her material speaking directly to the water in her body, guiding her hand to the shape the material wants to become. Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Jacqueline’s practice promotes a harmonious relationship between modern humans and the natural world.
